Foster children are young individuals who have experienced the trauma of removal from their birth families due to abuse, neglect, or other challenging circumstances. They often carry emotional scars and may exhibit behavioral difficulties as a result of their past experiences, and they arrive at foster homes like ours with absolutely nothing. Foster care provides a temporary, safe environment for these children, offering them stability, love, and support as they navigate their journey toward healing and finding permanent, nurturing homes.
We currently have twelve (12) young children, of varying ages. If you have more questions inbox us on Facebook (easiest way to get our attention now).
Physical Needs of Foster Children
Foster children often have unique physical needs stemming from their past experiences. Some of their most basic requirements include:
- Adequate nutrition: Ensuring they have regular, healthy meals to support growth and development.
- Proper clothing: Providing suitable clothing for different seasons and occasions, including school uniforms and sports attire.
- Essential hygiene items: Access to toiletries, such as toothpaste, shampoo, and soap, is crucial for personal care.
- Medical care: Regular check-ups, vaccinations, and treatment for existing health conditions are essential.
- Safe sleeping arrangements: A comfortable bed and safe sleeping environment are vital for rest.
- Personal belongings: Having one’s own belongings, such as toys, books, or comfort items, can provide a sense of security and belonging.
